His firm publishes a "99.7% success rate" — on his biography, in the page headline, and in the sidebar. A figure quoted to a tenth of a percent implies a denominator, and no register, court or auditor publishes one. We have not reprinted it as fact.
The bar record
We read Eugene G. Bruno in the State Bar of California’s licensee search. The practice-area and language rows are the lawyer’s own; the Bar prints above them that it does not verify their accuracy and makes no warranties about competence.
California states plainly what it hides — and it is not this. Above every status history the Bar warns that some administrative suspensions are removed from display under its own removal policy, and it defines those as non-disciplinary: unpaid fees, missed education. Disciplinary matters are not covered by that policy, and one listing on this page proves the field works — two suspensions, two case numbers and five linked court documents, still on display years later. So a clean status history here means more than a clean one in Washington. It still does not mean the Bar has told us everything.
What the record shows
The 99.7% figure appears at least three times across his own pages. Nobody publishes a lawyer’s case-outcome denominator — not the State Bar, not the courts, not any auditor. A precise number is not the trust signal it looks like, and this site was rebuilt around that lesson after it once carried eighteen invented statistics.Verified
