Carries two public disciplinary suspensions. The State Bar shows charges filed in 2011 and 2013, actual suspensions in 2013 and 2014, and links five court documents across the two cases. He was restored to Active on 5 April 2023. We confirmed every line on the live State Bar page ourselves.

The bar record

We read Steve Guilin in the State Bar of California’s licensee search. The practice-area and language rows are the lawyer’s own; the Bar prints above them that it does not verify their accuracy and makes no warranties about competence.

This is the fullest disciplinary record any register on this site has produced. California does not merely say “yes”. It prints a status history with dates, names both case numbers, records when charges were filed as well as when discipline landed, and lists five State Bar Court documents, each linked. We corrected ourselves on this: our Massachusetts page called that state’s register the only one that links a decision. California links five, and did so first. We did not read the documents, so nothing here describes the conduct — only what the register publishes, and where the rest of it lives.

What the record shows

The State Bar of California publishes his status history in full: charges filed 17 March 2011 (case 09-O-13903), discipline with actual suspension 8 August 2013; charges filed again 11 December 2013 (case 12-O-17263), discipline with actual suspension 30 August 2014. Status returned to Active on 5 April 2023. We loaded the page and read it ourselves.Verified

It also lists five State Bar Court documents with effective dates — a Decision, a Stipulation, a Modification Order, an Order re Extension of Time, and an Order — each linked. No register on this site gives more. Massachusetts links one decision; Nevada gives a case number; Washington gives nothing at all.Verified

We have not read the documents, so we do not describe the conduct. What we can print is what the register prints: the cases, the dates, the sanction type, and the fact that the file is public and one click away. His licence is Active and he is eligible to practise today.Verified

Note what the Bar’s own removal notice does not cover. It says some administrative suspensions — unpaid fees, missed education — are removed from display. These are disciplinary, and they are still here twenty-three years into his career. California hides some housekeeping. It does not hide this.Verified

What the firm says

He says he graduated from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in 1997, met Guy Levy while at law school, and joined him in 2014. The register records his law school and an admission date of 2003.Reported

He says he previously worked for GEICO Insurance as an adjuster, and that the experience showed him how insurers weigh their own interests against their insureds’.Reported

His firm’s rideshare page is written around Guy Levy throughout — San Diego Uber and Lyft accident attorney Guy Levy — and does not mention Guilin.Reported

This is the firm’s own marketing. It shows they hold themselves out as taking rideshare cases — it is not evidence that they have run one, and we have not verified any rideshare case they have handled.

What we haven’t checked

Not established. The five court documents. The register links them; we did not open them, so the conduct behind two suspensions is not described here. That is the largest gap on any listing on this site, and unlike most of our gaps it is one a reader can close in a click. The State Bar Court’s own case search, which we have not run for anyone here. We have not reviewed court records for case outcomes, we print no settlement or verdict figures, and we have no basis for judging quality of representation. A bar check is a floor, not a ranking.
